8t4th Annual Okeene Rattlesnake Hunt 2023

The Okeene Rattlesnake Hunt comes your way Thursday,  April 13 th 2023, and for Okeene's biggest event of the year, we want you to be a part of it! We’re seeking vendors who are looking to get involved in the festivities. Do you have any goods you’d like to sell? Maybe food or drink? Here is your chance.

The Okeene Rattlesnake Hunt is one of the biggest weekends of the year, bringing in attendees from Northwest Oklahoma and beyond to the city of Okeene. Along with favorite staples such as the carnival and live musical performances, vendors play a large part in creating a welcoming environment for all who come into town.

The largest of these captured snakes are entered into our yearly competition, the Okeene Rattlesnake Hunt. Okeene is home to the first and original rattlesnake hunt. In 2023, Okeene will be celebrating its 84th hunt.

The Okeene Rattlesnake Hunt has been widely recognized by several magazines, news outlets, and documentaries from around the world. Every year finds a variety of new film crews, reporters, and photographers that travel from near and far to witness and participate in the event.

In addition to braggin rights and a cash prize for winning the hunt, our event features live snake exhibitions and demonstrations. There's a variety of rattlesnake souveniers and fried rattlesnake is even on the menu. An entire festival surrounds the event with a carnival, food and shopping vendors, live music, and a variety of entertainment options suited for the entire family to enjoy.

Oklahoma State Law Requires:

5-Day Rattlesnake Permit

Any person hunting, pursuing, trapping, harassing, catching, killing, taking, or attempting to take in any manner any species of rattlesnake during an organized rattlesnake hunting event or festival must have a rattlesnake permit, unless exempt. Persons with a current annual or lifetime hunting or combination hunting/fishing license are exempt from the rattlesnake permit.
