American Red Cross Crossnotes Updates for May 2024

Clubs and Organizations

May 9, 2024

Our thoughts are with everyone whose lives have been impacted by the recent tornadoes, floods and storms that have left a trail of destruction across several southern and midwestern states. With more than 35 open shelters across the country, the American Red Cross has been working around the clock to help families facing their darkest moments.

With widespread damage to communities and homes, recovery efforts from disasters like floods, tornadoes and wildfires are just beginning, and more severe weather is on its way. Many residents will rely on the Red Cross for assistance in the weeks and months ahead.

Your generous support today is instrumental in helping communities prepare for, respond to and recover from disasters big and small. Please, rush a donation now.

Dear James,

It amazes me to think how the founder of the American Red Cross, Clara Barton, bravely provided nursing care and supplies to soldiers during the Civil War. These activities ultimately defined her life and earned her the nickname, the Angel of the Battlefield.

As Memorial Day approaches, our nation reflects on the sacrifices of the selfless individuals who gave so much for our country. At the Red Cross we are honored to carry forward Clara’s legacy of helping members of the military and their families — whether that means assisting an active service member reaching their family during an emergency or supporting their transition back into civilian life.

From the bottom of my heart, thank you for being a dedicated member of our Red Cross community and helping us to continue this vital work. I’m truly grateful for each and every one of you.
