COMMUNITY IS THE BLUES

Since its inception in 1988, the Waterfront Blues Festival has been more than just a celebration of music; it's been a bright spot and source of support for our community. This year, we're thrilled to continue our partnerships with two incredible organizations: Meals on Wheels People and The Jeremy Wilson Foundation's Musician Health & Services Program. Meals on Wheels People has been dishing out meals and smiles since 1970, and The Jeremy Wilson Foundation supports our musicians in times of need. Whether you're adding a donation with your ticket purchase, joining one of their benefit Blues Cruises (stay tuned for these in April!), or visiting them onsite at the fest, know that you're not just supporting the music — you're keeping the heart of our community beating strong.

We can’t wait to welcome Leyla McCalla for her first appearance at the Waterfront Blues Festival. A bilingual multi-instrumentalist and alumna of GRAMMY award-winning African-American string band the Carolina Chocolate Drops, McCalla is earthy, elegant, soulful and witty. Her music vibrates with three centuries of history, yet also feels strikingly fresh, distinctive, and contemporary, sonically blending New Orleans (her adopted home) and Haitian influences with lyrics sung in English, French and Haitian Creole.
