Elgin Theatre Company To Hold Auditions For It’s A Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play

The Elgin Theatre Company is pleased to announce auditions for its upcoming production of It’s a Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play, a holiday drama by Joe Landry. This production is directed by Rigina Belt-Daniels and is the second production of ETC’s 2023-2024 season.

Dates/Times:

Auditions for It’s a Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play will be held on:

September 24, 2023, from 2:30 PM to 5:30 PM and

September 25, 2023, from 6:30 PM to 9:30 PM.

Call backs, if needed, will be on September 26, 2023.

No appointment is needed.

Location:

Auditions will be held at the First United Methodist Church, 216 E. Highland Ave., Elgin,IL. 60120.

Audition Instructions:

This is an open call for auditions for It’s a Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play. Auditioning will take place for ALL ROLES. No prior experience necessary.

- Auditions will consist of cold read from the script, an improv activity, and a one to three minute monologue but the monologue is not required.
- A copy of your resume and head shot is preferred but not necessary to audition.
- Bring all scheduling conflicts for the months of September, October, and November.

Rehearsals:

Rehearsals will be held on Sunday afternoons from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM and Tuesday and Wednesday evenings from 6:30 PM to 9:30 PM.

All rehearsals will be held at First United Methodist Church of Elgin, 216 E. Highland Ave., Elgin, IL. 60120.

Performances:

Performances of It’s a Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play will be held on November 10, 11, 12, 17,18, and 19, 2023. Friday and Saturday performances start at 7:30 PM and Sunday performances start at 2:00 PM. All performances will be held in the Elgin Art Showcase, 164 Division Street – Eighth Floor,Elgin, IL. 60120.

Synopsis:

This beloved American holiday classic comes to captivating life as a live 1940s radio broadcast. With the help of an ensemble that brings a few dozen characters to the stage, the story of idealistic George Bailey unfolds as he considers ending his life one fateful Christmas Eve.

Actors Needed:

It’s a Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play has roles for:

- Three women and seven men – ages 20to 70.
- Four children – ages 5 to 12.

All actors are required to be at their respective rehearsals unless excused by the director.

Tech week rehearsals require all actors to be present when called.

Note:Actors will be asked to help however they can with costumes, props, and set pieces.
