Garcia Appointed to Statewide Advisory Council

Karen Garcia, of the City of Hot Springs Board of Directors representing District 5, was recently appointed to the Arkansas Municipal League’s Advisory Council for Public Safety for 2022-23.

The purpose of the advisory council is to allow cities and public safety officials to get together and discuss important issues pertaining to public safety and advise the Arkansas Municipal League staff and Executive Committee as to the types of services and policies to pursue.

Garcia was re-elected in 2018 to serve 2019 through 2022. She has been a lifelong proponent of community service. She volunteers for Head Start, Early Head Start and various other charities in the community, and has served on the City’s Airport Advisory Committee, the Transportation Advisory Committee and the Henderson State University School of Business Advisory Council. A certified public accountant, she retired from Weyerhaeuser in 2014 after a 27-year career.

The Arkansas Municipal League is a service and advocacy organization for the municipalities of Arkansas. The League offers its programs and services to 500 cities and towns in Arkansas and was created in 1934 to assist cities with information and representation in the public affairs of our state and nation.
