August 29, 2023

From: Maryland State Arts Council

Intent to Apply forms are now available for the Maryland State Arts Council’s Grants for Organizations (GFO) program, which provides general operating support to nonprofit organizations, units of government, and colleges and universities that produce or present ongoing arts programming that is open to the public.

If your organization is a new applicant or did not receive FY24 GFO funding, a completed Intent to Apply form is required in order to be eligible to apply for FY25 GFO funding. If your organization is deemed eligible after review of the Intent to Apply form, it then must submit a full On-Year application by November 15, 2023, to be considered for FY25 GFO funding.

Below, you will find a checklist of eligibility for GFO funding.

- Does your organization have ongoing programs to produce or present the arts to the public?

- Does your organization operate with allowable operating income of over $50,000 annually?

- Will your organization have a financial statement or audit for its most recently completed fiscal year?

- Is the majority of your arts programing serving a community other than tuition-paying constituents?

- Is your organization incorporated in Maryland?

-OR-

- Does your organization have a significant physical presence in Maryland?

Is your organization an IRS-designated 501(c)3 non-profit at the time of application?

-OR-

Is your organization a unit of government?

-OR-

Is your organization a part of a college or university?

If your organization answers “Yes!” to all sections above, it is eligible to complete an Intent to Apply form.

Note that if your organization received FY24 GFO funding, it is not necessary to complete the Intent to Apply Form for FY25 GFO funding.

An information session, “How to Apply: Grants for Organizations - Intent to Apply,” will be held on Tuesday, August 29, from noon to 1 p.m. Join Program Directors Emily Sollenberger and Laura Weiss for an overview of the GFO program and the Intent to Apply process. Organizations interested in submitting an Intent to Apply form are encouraged to attend the session for more information on the GFO program and how to submit a successful application.
