Aug. 15 - Lunch and Learn: Coins New and Old (Ages 50 & Older)
Meadowbrook Park Clubhouse, 9101 Nall Ave., Prairie Village, Mondays, 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., $25 nonresidents, $28 nonresidents
Join Rick Raines with the Johnson County Numismatic Society at Meadowbrook Park Clubhouse for lunch and a presentation on coins from ancient civilizations to modern day Crypto currency, and coin collecting. He'll bring along a collection of rare coins you've never seen. Lunch included. Activity number 22494.

Aug. 16 - Special Interest: Armchair Travel - Everglades (Ages 50 & Older)
Virtual Program, 10 to 11 a.m., FREE
Join an Everglades Park Ranger to hear about the history, climate, and biodiversity of this unique environment. Activity number 21669.

Aug. 16 -  Cards: Bridge Workshops - Advanced: Negative Doubles  (Ages 50 & Older)
Matt Ross Community Center, 8101 Marty St., Overland Park, 4 to 5:30 p.m., $10 per person, $11 nonresidents
Become an in-demand partner with these bridge workshops. Fun and easy classes help you master a new subject each week. Purchase each workshop individually or take them all! Aug. 17 - Museum: Redlining - A History (Ages 21 & Older)
Johnson County Museum at Johnson County Arts & Heritage Center, 8788 Metcalf Ave., Overland Park, 6 to 7 p.m., $8 per person, $6.40 museum members

Join Johnson County Museum staff as they share an overview of the history of redlining and talk about the process behind making the museum’s newest special exhibition. Aug. 17 - Art: Plein Air (Ages 50 & Older)
Antioch Park, 6501 Antioch Rd., Merriam, Wednesdays, 9 to 11:30 a.m., six sessions, $66 per person, $73 nonresidents

Explore the beauty of the outdoors at Antioch Park and learn how to translate it to paper or canvas by painting outdoors. Learn color mixing, light representation, and more. Aug. 18 - Bingo: Ice Cream (Ages 50 & Older)
Roeland Park Community Center, 4850 Rosewood Dr., Roeland Park, 1:30 to 3:30 p.m., $5 per person, $6 nonresidents)
BINGO! Delight in food, prizes, fun and 12 games of bingo. A variety of prizes will be awarded including gift certificates. Please pre-register at least one week in advance. Payment is required at time of registration. For the enjoyment of all participants, children are not permitted to attend 50 Plus Bingos. Cost of admission covers snacks and staff time to administer the bingo program. No additional charge for bingo. Activity number 21824.

Aug. 19 - Gymnastics: Ninja Training (Ages 6-12)
Mill Creek Activity Center, 6518 Vista Dr., Shawnee, 4:30 to 6 p.m., $25 per person, $27.50 nonresidents
No matter their skill level, everyone can have a blast learning to be ninjas! Training will emphasize improving strength and agility through obstacle challenges and conditioning. Activity number 21462.

Aug. 19 - Movies in the Park: “Cars” (Rated G)
Theatre in the Park in Shawnee Mission Park with a separate entrance at 7710 Renner Road, Shawnee, Gates open at 8 p.m., movie starts between 8:30 and 8:45 p.m., depending on sunset, FREE thanks to the support of The Parks & Recreation Foundation of Johnson County, Arvest Bank, and JE Dunn
7th of 11 through Oct. 28 - A cocky hot rod gets stranded in a desert town en route to a big race, and gets a long-overdue lesson in humility. With the help of the town's quirky car population, he learns that sometimes life is more about the voyage than the outcome of the race.

Aug. 20 - Special Events: JCPRD Kids Triathlon (Kill Creek Park, 11670 Homestead Lane, Olathe, Ages 14 and Under, 7:30 to  Noon, fees vary. NOTE: As a result of this event, Kill Creek Park will not open for public use until Noon on this date)
This youth triathlon is specifically designed to let the kids be the stars of the show. Athletes will compete in individual age groups in this race that is truly an event for all abilities. Athletes will compete in the age group that corresponds with their age on Dec. 31 of the current year. Events offered include a Tots Triathlon for ages 5 and under, a Super Sprint Triathlon for ages 6-8, a Sprint Triathlon for ages 9-10, and a Long Triathlon for ages 11-14.
