Here's a sampling of programs JCPRD has coming up for the week of April 9-15:

April 10 - Multi-Sport: Amazing Athletes (Ages 3-5)

Meadowbrook Park Shelter #1, 9101 Nall Ave., Prairie Village, Monday-Friday, 5 to 5:45 p.m., 5 sessions, $102 per person, $122 nonresidents

Amazing Athletes uses a multi-sport program to introduces the fundamentals of 10 different sports in a non-competitive environment. Children in Amazing Athletes routinely gain greater confidence, learn to combine fitness with fun, and develop six key motor skills. Equipment provided. Please wear closed-toe shoes. April 10 - Museum: Kids' Day Out (Ages 6-10)

Johnson County Museum at Johnson County Arts & Heritage Center, 8788 Metcalf Ave., Overland Park, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., $38 per person

Come have fun when school is out! Discover history through hands-on activities and exploration of KidScape and museum exhibits, play games, and enjoy down time. Bring a lunch, snacks, and water bottle and dress for the weather - we will go outside if we can. We are open from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., but you may drop off and pick up at any time. Five-year-old children can be enrolled if currently attending kindergarten. Activity number 24548. For program questions, call the museum, 913-715-2570.

April 11 - Games: Family Feud™ (Ages 50 & Older)

Matt Ross Community Center, 8101 Marty St., Overland Park, 10 to 11 a.m., $6 per person, $7 nonresidents

Meet new ‘family’ members and compete against fellow 50 Plus participants in our silly rendition of Family Feud™! Everyone will get a chance to play and laugh. The team with the most points wins a prize. Activity number 24366.

April 11 - Birding: Spring Bird Walk (Ages 18 & Older)

Ernie Miller Nature Center, 909 N. Kansas 7 Highway, Olathe, 7:30 to 9 a.m., $8 per person, $9 nonresidents

Join us for a morning walk in the woods to look for spring migrants and resident birds. Get help spotting and identifying different species. Bring binoculars if possible. Limited loaner binoculars will be available. Activity number 24185. Preregistration required: walk-ins not accepted.

April 12 - Museum: Retro Storytime - “The Golden Egg Book” (All Ages)

Johnson County Museum at Johnson County Arts & Heritage Center, 8788 Metcalf Ave., Overland Park, 10 to 10:45 a.m., $2 per person, $1.60 museum members

Preschoolers love stories from long ago, read by a special guest from the 1950s All-Electric House! A craft activity is included after the story ends. This classic story follows a little bunny as it discovers an egg and considers all the wonderful things that might be inside. Activity number 24529. April 12 - Special Interests: Osher - Significant US First Ladies (Ages 50 & Older)

New Century Fieldhouse, 551 New Century Parkway, near Gardner, Wednesdays, 2:30 to 4:30 p.m., 3 sessions, $50 per person

We will look at eight U.S. first ladies who lived in the 20th and 21st centuries. They are not as well-known as some of the other first ladies, but they made impressive contributions to the United States. We will study Lou Hoover, Bess Truman, Mamie Eisenhower, Lady Bird Johnson, Pat Nixon, Rosalynn Carter, Barbara Bush, and Laura Bush. Activity number 24823.

April 14 - Gymnastics: Handspring Clinic (Ages 6-14)

Mill Creek Activity Center, 6518 Vista Dr., Shawnee, 4:30 to 5:30 pm, $16 per person, $18 nonresidents

This skill clinic is designed for gymnasts interested in improving or mastering their back and front handsprings. Participants should already have Level 2 / 3 gymnastics skills. For an optimal learning experience, it is encouraged for participants to have a round off, front limber, and back bend kick over. Activity number 24192.

April 15 - Family Fun: Dog's Day Out (All Ages)

Meadowbrook Park, 9101 Nall Ave., Prairie Village, 1 to 4 p.m., FREE

NEW! Calling all dog owners! Bring your dog to Meadowbrook Park for a day of fun, games, a costume contest, treat scavenger hunt (while supplies last), photobooth, vendors, and more! Melissa’s Second Chances of Shawnee will be on site with adoptable dogs as well. All dogs must be leashed, current on vaccines, and under the control of their owner. Activity number 24796.

April 15 - Yoga: Flowing with Nature (Ages 16 & Older)

TimberRidge Adventure Center, 12300 S. Homestead Lane, Olathe, 1 to 4:30 p.m., $39 per person, $43 nonresidents

Exhale as you take in the beauty of TimberRidge Adventure Center’s lake front property with kayaking and yoga. Take in your surroundings and feelings as you journal and hike the trails. This award-winning Kansas Recreation and Parks Association “Outstanding New or Innovative Wellness Program” will be sure to help you relax, discover, and awaken the mind and body. Prior experience is not necessary, and participants will choose their own level of activity. Advance registration required. After registration a detailed letter will be sent to you before the event.
