Dedicated to enhancing the quality of life in our community, Johnson County Park and Recreation District offers year-round program, activities, and special events for all ages!

To register by phone, call 913-831-3359. For all in-person programs, physical distancing and COVID-19 safe practices will be encouraged.

A reminder that while JCPRD’s 50 Plus programs are primarily for people who are age 50 or older, interested parties who have not yet reached that magic age may still be able to attend. Persons 18 and older who are interested in a 50 Plus class are invited to call the 50 Plus Department at 913-826-2975 for space availability.

Nov. 21 - Art: Ceramic Gingerbread House (Ages 16 & Older)

Johnson County Arts & Heritage Center, 8788 Metcalf Ave., Overland Park, 6 to 8 p.m., 2 sessions, $45 per person, $50 nonresidents

NEW! Have you ever wished your gingerbread house would last forever? Get creative and learn about clay while making your own ceramic gingerbread during this two-part class. Participants will learn hand-built ceramics and glazing techniques during this class. Our teaching artist will be there to guide you through the process, so no experience needed. Activity number 23007.

Nov. 21, 22, & 23 - Museum: Kids' Day Out (Ages 6-10)

Johnson County Museum at Johnson County Arts & Heritage Center, 8788 Metcalf Ave., Overland Park, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., $38 per person)

Come have fun when school is out! Discover history through hands-on activities and exploration of KidScape and museum exhibits, play games, and enjoy down time. Bring a lunch, snacks, and water bottle and dress for the weather - we will go outside if we can. We are open from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., but you may drop off and pick up at any time. Five-year-old children can be enrolled if currently attending kindergarten. Nov. 21 session activity number 23503; Nov. 22 session, activity number 23504; and Nov. 23, activity number 23505.

Nov. 23 - FREE Day at the Museum (All Ages)

Johnson County Museum at Johnson County Arts & Heritage Center, 8788 Metcalf Ave., Overland Park, 9 a.m. to 4:30, FREE

Explore the Johnson County Museum’s signature exhibition as well as the current special exhibition Redlined: Cities, Suburbs and Segregation to gain a deeper understanding of the county’s history and growth during this free day. Nov. 23 - Gymnastics: Ninja Training (Ages 6-12)

Mill Creek Activity Center, 6518 Vista Dr., Shawnee, 12:30 to 2 p.m., $25 per person, $27.50 nonresidents

No matter their skill level, everyone can have a blast learning to be ninjas! Training will emphasize improving strength and agility through obstacle challenges and conditioning. Activity number 22415.

Nov. 26 - Art: Family Art (Ages 6 & Older)

Johnson County Arts & Heritage Center, 8788 Metcalf Ave., Overland Park, 10 a.m. to Noon, $20 per person, $22 nonresidents

Come create art with the whole family! Families of up to five members are invited to join us for specially created art programs where they can all show off their creativity and make an art piece together. 20% discount on third family member and any family member registered after that up to five. This session’s theme is mini ceramic holiday ornaments. Activity number22892.
