Kansan to Kansan Week of January 2, 2023

Government and Politics

January 6, 2023

From: Kansas Governor Laura Kelly

Governor Laura Kelly Advocates for "Axing Your Taxes" Plan to Provide Financial Relief to Kansans

“I am calling on legislators of both parties to support my plan and provide much-needed financial relief to Kansas families and child care facilities. At a time when prices are on the rise, no family should still be paying state sales taxes on basic necessities like groceries and diapers. This plan creates real savings for all Kansans, including those who need it most.”

Governor Kelly Announces December Total Tax Collections Surpass Estimate by $140.1 Million

“Over the past three years my administration has taken steps to restore the Kansas economy, and that fiscal responsibility has paved the way to provide direct tax relief to Kansas taxpayers. That relief will come specifically through proposals like axing the food tax and offering a one-time $250 tax rebate for Kansas families.”

Governor Kelly Announces Proposed New Kansas Veterans Home to be Built in Topeka

“As the daughter of a Purple Heart recipient, I am committed to honoring the service of Kansas’ veterans and their families. Kansas increased our investment in and relentlessly pursued federal funding for this project, and we are now one step closer to ensuring service members across the region have the support and care they deserve.”
