NESS AND NOAA LAUNCH B-WET TACKLEBOX: FREE RESOURCES FOR EDUCATION PROFESSIONALS
Experiential Environmental Education training and lesson plans for educators from New England Science & Sailing Foundation and NOAA.

The New England Science & Sailing Foundation (NESS) announces the launch of the NESS B-WET Tacklebox. The Tacklebox includes training, resources, and lesson plans that are free to educators who seek to implement experiential environmental learning with students in school classrooms. These materials are made possible by grant funding from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Bay Watershed Education and Training (B-WET) and NESS

The FREE NESS B-WET Tacklebox includes:

- Recordings of the first Virtual Workshop with NESS staff and other national experts with discussion and training on best practices for implementing meaningful watershed environmental experiences (MWEEs).

-Three lesson plans with NOAA resources to help students explore and gain greater respect for their local environment and waterways. Lesson plans are standards-based to meet academic and social and emotional learning targets.

- Supply lists, built as Amazon Wish Lists, tied to each lesson’s hands-on activities to ease accessibility for educators to bring inquiry-based learning to their classroom.

- NOAA resource library to help educators enable students to explore and appreciate their environment.

- Environmental Action Project Resources.

“The NESS B-WET Tacklebox brings to life our vision of impacting students everywhere by empowering teachers with the training and confidence to engage students with experiential learning,” said Dr. Eric Isselhardt, NESS CEO. “Look for more to come, as this is just the first year of a 3-year effort to combine the power of NESS standards-based lesson plans, research conducted with our partner teachers from the Hartford Healthcare Natchaug Clinical Day School system, and NOAA resources.”
