NVGOP Hosts Trump’s Fake Electors Convention

Government and Politics

May 3, 2024

On May 3rd, the Nevada GOP will hold their closed-to-press state convention featuring keynote speakers election conspiracy theorist Kash Patel and insurrectionist Scott Presler. The event is expected to include more fake electors, election deniers and insurrectionists including NVGOP Chair Michael McDonald, RNC Committeewoman Sigal Chattah, Clark County GOP Chair Jesse Law, and Republican state legislators Ken Gray, Carrie Buck, and Jeff Stone.

After vetoing SB133, a bill that would have established felony criminal penalties for fake electors who attempt to steal Nevada’s electoral votes, as six now-indicted Trump supporters did in 2020, Joe Lombardo’s GOP doubled down on their support for Donald Trump by hosting a convention riddled with election deniers, fake electors, and insurrectionists all in support of a twice impeached former president who is refusing to rule out political violence if he loses for a second time.

In February, the Nevada GOP held a rigged caucus to crown Donald Trump their premier leader, but thanks to their self-inflicted chaos, Republicans showed little interest in actually showing up. After more Republicans voted in the primary than the rigged-for-Trump caucus, the state party’s fears of low voter turnout came to fruition with Donald Trump receiving less than half of the votes received by President Biden in his respective ballot. Even after loading all of the bases in Trump’s favor, he was barely able to squeak out more votes than “none of these candidates”.

“After saying he can’t ‘turn a blind eye’ to Trump’s criminal indictments last year, Joe Lombardo’s craven political capitulation to the disgraced former president is now on full display as his party falls further under the control of MAGA extremists by hosting a state convention with fake electors, election deniers, and insurrectionists,” said Nevada State Democratic Party spokesperson Tai Sims.
