The Rist Canyon Mountain Festival is the annual fundraiser for the Rist Canyon Volunteer Fire Department. Come rain or shine, this one-day event features a full day’s lineup of entertainment and activities for the entire family.

Other festival favorites include a gigantic used book sale (books range in price from 20? to $2.00, $5 coffee table books with selections for infants through seniors), silent auction, bake sale, plant sale, firefighter dunk tank, craft and art vendors, food trucks, large covered seating area, and the 2023 RCVFD commemorative t-shirt booth.

FREE admission, parking, tractor-pulled hayride shuttle to/from the parking area (handicapped parking area available), musical entertainment, large kid’s activity area, farm animals, educational booths and demonstrations, and ice cream.

RCVFD provides emergency response to life and property from fires, natural disasters, medical emergencies, motor vehicle and cyclist accidents, and all other rescue/emergency situations. The RCVFD serves a more than 110 square mile area that includes Rist Canyon, Stove Prairie, and the Buckhorn, as well as providing mutual aid to an additional 50 square miles.

Funds raised from the Mountain Festival are vital for the financial operation of the all-volunteer, 100% donation-based fire department.

Entertainment

FREE LIVE MUSIC ALL DAY LONG!!!

The Liz Barnez Band brings the vibrancy of New Orleans’ Bourbon Street with Southern style guitar playing and songwriting.  They incorporate elements of folk, blues, jazz, country and a hint of pop in their repertoire.  Liz continues to produce new music and has been a mainstay on the Colorado music scene for many years.  She and her band will treat us to her newest releases as well as long time favorites.

AKA (Also Known As), is a large energetic band previously  known as the Prairie Dog Companion.  They perform an eclectic brand of Americana music they call “City and Western” meant to get you on your feet dancing.  You will hear original music produced by the band and friends as well as familiar favorites.  They have been part of the Northern Colorado music scene since 1996. They particularly enjoy supporting causes such as ours.

Rusty 44 is a rustic roots band hailing from the Colorado Front Range region. Their acoustic music draws from all corners of the Americana scene.  Their unique style features violin, mandolin, banjo, standup bass and an acoustic guitar.  They have played together for over five years in a variety of  Colorado venues.

Sunflowers and Sawdust brings vocals and a collaboration of acoustic instruments to the  Mountain Festival stage once again.  Ron and Julie Lynam live in our area and have performed together for over twenty years.  They provide a unique blend of energetic bluegrass, country, folk, and swing music.

The Choice City Trio featuring one of our Canyon locals, Alan Anderson will join us again this year on the Mountain Festival stage.   Alan brings riveting vocals along with his band’s 12-string guitar, electric bass and percussion.  They play both original and traditional favorites which emphasize the importance of community and connection through storytelling.

Book Tent

Come visit our massive book tent – 10,000+ books!!! – hardback and paperback books in so many categories, books on tape, dvds, vhs, jigsaw puzzles, gift baskets and so much more! One of the most popular attractions at the festival, the book tent is not to be missed.

All of the books in the book tent are donated by the community, sorted and organized by the Book Bees, a group of dedicated folks who spend weeks preparing for the festival.

Silent Auction

You don’t want to miss the Silent Auction this year.  Come browse through the wonderful selection, pick up a thoughtful gift or a little something for yourself.
