History

Three families began a home Bible study in January of 1997 at Rich and Sandy Nawyn’s home in Gates Mill subdivision. Prior to that, Mickey Mayfield had done research, visiting, and a prior home Bible study in Chandler Plantation. In January, Larry Black and the Gwinnett Metro Baptist Association invited Steve Hammack to come as the founding pastor of Anchor.

Worship services began on Easter Sunday of 1997 for a core group of families. There were 43 people present on the first day of core group worship. Since that time the core group has grown to about 250 people from the surrounding area. God allowed us to complete a building debt free in one year through the sacrifice and giving spirit of our church body.


God continues to pour out His blessing on our church for the glory of His kingdom!
