Center Stage Dance Studio Inc., in its 13th season, is proud to offer a quality teaching staff dedicated to teaching dance, in a caring environment. Our staff is both experienced and knowledgeable. Our goal is to develop each student’s talent, so they reach their highest potential and have a love for the art of dance. Whether you are looking for some dance fun or training for a future in dance, Center Stage can provide both, all in a professional and well organized studio.

Our studio is located at 12 Overlook Avenue, just off of Rochelle Avenue, at the entrance to the Garden State Plaza. The studio is on the first floor, with an easy drop off and parking lot. The modern facility has a lobby, dancer waiting area, bathroom and two dance rooms. Each dance room is equipped with floating wood sub floors, providing the proper energy absorption, lateral foot support and resiliency that is needed to prevent injury and train properly.

The studio offers classes for children age 2 ½ to adult. The preschool program, “Introduction to Music , Movement & Dance”, is offered to children age 2 ½ to 5. Students 5 and older may choose from ballet, tap, jazz, lyrical, pointe, hip hop, musical theatre and acrobatics classes. Ballet class is recommended for all students, as it provides a good foundation for all other dance forms.

Every spring a show is produced. All aspects of the show are meticulously planned and organized, making it a wonderful experience for both the performer and parent. Dancers are proud to be part of a professional show and delighted when they are presented with a trophy for their performance. All students are given a chance to participate, however it is not mandatory. The studio also has a dance company for the more serious student. The Center Stage Dance Company competes and performs. The company is for dancers age 7 and older and is by audition.

The studio is led by the director, Ann Marie Coelho. She has been teaching dance for 18 years. She has a BA in dance and economics from Rutger’s College, Rutger’s University. Her choreography has won numerous awards at both regional and national dance competitions. She takes great pride in teaching classes of all ages. She is also a “dance mom” herself, with two little ballerinas of her own.
