Small Business Focus, Big Business Results

The CFCC began in 1956 with a group of small business people who got together to form the Court House Square Businessmen's Association. The original 27-member group later became the Central Fairfax Chamber of Commerce, addressing many of the same topics the Chamber still tackles today.

Over the next several decades, the Chamber initiated numerous programs and services to support and promote business growth. In October of 1961, the Chamber supported legislation for the Town of Fairfax to become the City of Fairfax and, on April 18, 1963, the organization became known as the Cityof Fairfax Chamber of Commerce, Inc.

Due to the ever-increasing number of members outside the City of Fairfax,the Chamber became the Central Fairfax Chamber of Commerce in 1985. This enabled us to reach out to organizations throughout the region that wanted to form a link with the small business community located in and near the City of Fairfax.

Besides representing businesses throughout the Fairfax region and sponsoring events to enhance our member businesses, the Chamber is committed to forming strong bonds with the City of Fairfax, the County of Fairfax, and other area chambers of commerce and associations.

Some of the programs and events the Chamber sponsors to benefit area business owners and the community include:
- The Business & Technology Showcase;
- The Winter Gala & Casino Evening;
- The Chocolate Lover's Festival;
- The Margaret Kilpatrick Adams Scholarship Program;
- Movies under the Moon;
- George Mason University Halloween Child Safety Program;
- Robinson Secondary School DECA Intern Day.

Today's CFCC is among the top ten area chambers of commerce as reported by the Washington Business Journal. Celebrating our 45th anniversary in 2003, we look back with pride on our long history, and look forward to another year of providing Small Business Focus, Big Business Results to our businesses and our communities.
