Chinese Lantern and Folk Festival

About Us:
It's all about light, illumination and experiencing a numinous moment.

The first Chinese lantern festivals began during China's Han Dynasty from 25-220 A.D. In early times the lanterns were simple; in modern times the lanterns are now complex designs made in many different shapes and sizes. Chinese lantern festivals are held during the Chinese New Year celebration. The various lanterns can symbolize people letting go of their past selves and manifesting the new into their lives.

From ancient times to today, Chinese lantern festivals celebrate and accentuate positive relationships between people, families, cultures, nature and the universe.

The inaugural Chinese Lantern & Folk Festival at Fountain Hills coincides with the Chinese New Year celebration of the Year of the Horse. The festival features dozens of large, richly-colored lit displays made from special silk material depicting animals, characters, gods, angels, flora and structures. The displays, created by two dozen Chinese artisans, become a stunning kaleidoscope of colorful lights and visuals. A number of displays measure up to 60 feet long and 40 feet wide. The festival also features cultural dancing, unique puppet shows, Tai Chi and Kung Fu demonstrations, handmade crafts, food, music and more.

Now it's your time to be part of the ancient tradition of a Chinese festival and the inaugural Chinese Lantern & Folk Festival at Fountain Hills.
