Clearwater Evangelical Free Church

450 North 4th Street
620-584-2367

Our History:
Clearwater Evangelical Free Church was first formed as an independent church in 1986 by a small group who had a desire to proclaim the good news of Christ and grow together, while always remaining true to God's Word. The original group began meeting in the Middle School Auditorium and then in the School District Office's community room.

In 1987, CEFC affiliated with the Evangelical Free Church of America and purchased a 24 ft. wide store-front building in downtown Clearwater. This building was renovated into a sanctuary seating 110, a nursery and an office. Tony Carr, called in 1988, served as the first pastor. In August of 1993, Pat Clarey was called as pastor.  Pastor Paul Rathke became senior pastor in 2006.

In 1996, CEFC was given a spirit-lead opportunity to purchase ten acres on north Forth Street that would be an ideal location for a new church building. The following year, our present 9,000 square foot building was completed, with sanctuary seating of 250, classrooms, kitchen, offices and nursery.
