Dahlia Hill is unlike any other dahlia garden. And the dahlia is unlike any other flower. Fifty volunteers, all members of the Dahlia HIll Society, design, plant and maintain this free, public garden, located on a prominent corner among the cultural attractions of Midland.

Every year 3000 dahlias, representing over 250 varieties, are planted in a new pattern in the beautifully terraced garden. With nice wide pathways, visitors can walk through much of the gardens eight terraces to view the flowers up close. Some plants will reach six feet in height.

The garden includes a Memorial Circle at the top of the hill for cremated remains to be resurrected as dahlias. Also featured on the hill are sculptures representing the four seasons of life by highly regarded artist Charles Breed, founder of the garden. Also, at the top of the Hill, is Mr. Breed's working studio, and a small museum with many of his art pieces on display.
