Derby Neck Library

307 Hawthorne Ave
203-734-1492

The Derby Neck Library is open to the public from all towns. Our founding happened in 1897, making us the oldest library in Derby; instrumental in our beginning and future growth was Maj. Wilbur Osborne, a leading Valley industrialist.  In 1907, he died at age 66, leaving his daughter Miss Frances E. Osborne to finalize the building of the library at 307 Hawthorne Ave.  The building was funded by Andrew Carnegie of NYC with a gift of $3,4000, his single contribution to the Derby Neck Library.
