Ellington Baptist Church

264 Pinney Street
860-872-8444

History:

In the fall of 1990, several Ellington families who had been attending the Somers Baptist Church in Somers, CT established a Bible Study in the home of Jack and Karen Conklin. With the encouragement of the Somers Church, the Bible Study group became the nucleus for a new Baptist Church in Ellington.

Beginning in September of 1992, the initial public services were led by pastor Russell Buisch in the Ellington Center School as an extension of Somers Baptist Church.

In the spring of 1993, the Ellington Baptist Church was established as a separate church led by pastor Russell Buisch (and wife Carole) with it’s office and parsonage on Mountain Street. Sponsorship for the new church was expanded for the first three years to include the Conservative Baptist Home Mission Society (now “Missions Door”) and the Conservative Baptist Association of Connecticut (now part of Conservative Baptist Mission to the Northeast). We are thankful for the Ellington school system who allowed us to hold Sunday services in various school buildings for nearly 12 years.

On March 7, 2004 we enjoyed our first service in our own “multi-purpose building” at 264 Pinney Street. In April 2011, we purchased adjacent property and a house at 260 Pinney Street and relocated the parsonage and church office.
