Our Programs and Services

 

AIDS 101:  A 3 hour course on the basic information about HIV/AIDs and other STDs.  AIDS 101 is offered FREE to the general public.

 

COPE Project:  (Community Organizations and Programs that Empower youth) -:  This project allows qualified mentors to create quality, one-on-one relationships with children of prisoners and to serve as caring role models; there by contributing to the mentee's  success.  The mentees range from ages 4-18.  This program is funded by the Department of Health & Human Services.

 

Defy:  The program is funded by the Louisiana Campaign for Tobacco-Free Living and is designed for youth ages 11-17.  Youth learn about the dangers of tobacco through monthly sessions and other fun activities.

 

HIV Testing: FREE for individuals in the community. By appointment only.  Results are ready about 20 minutes.  This service is funded the Louisiana Community AIDS Partnership and the Huey and Angelina Wilson Foundation.

 

Medicaid Application Center:  The agency is a Certified Medicaid Application Center and accepts applications from women, children, and senior citizens by appointment.

 

Project Connections:  This is a free computer service for the public, in order to conduct research on HIV/AIDS and other health issues.  This project is funded by the National Library of Medicine.

 

Project FIRST: (Females Involved in Reducing Smoking and Tobacco use) -:  This project is funded by the Louisiana Campaign for Tobacco-Free Living.  Women meet monthly and learn about the dangers of tobacco and also receive incentives for participation.

 

Street Outreach Education:  Specialty trained outreach workers meet with individuals engaging in high risk behaviors to teach them how to make healthy life choices.  This program is funded by the Smash Hits HIV/AIDS Fund.
