The Borough of Spring Lake Heights is located along the southern coastal portion of Monmouth County and has a total land area of 1.3 square miles. It is adjacent to State highways 71 and 35. Spring Lake Heights was established as a working class community with a variety of housing types including single-family homes, multiple dwellings and seasonal units. The retail /commercial area has been developed along route 71 to serve the needs of the local residents as well as the thousands of tourists who flock to the New Jersey beaches every summer.
Spring Lake Heights has grown significantly over the years, from a population of 1200 in 1927 to the current population of 5,227. Population trends within Spring Lake Heights have been very stable in the last few years, Due largely to the highly developed character of the area and the fact that open land available for development in Spring Lake Heights is minimal at best.
Spring Lake Heights continues to be a popular place to live because of its close proximity to the beach and easy access to the Garden State Parkway and to public transportation provided by New Jersey Transit. However, this picturesque Borough has not lost its residential profile and character, which is a testament to the citizens of the municipality.
