The Fremont Education Foundation (www.fef79.org) is a not-for-profit organization (501 c-3), run solely by volunteers, that is designed to complement educational opportunities for all students attending Fremont District 79 schools. FEF strives to provide funding for innovative learning opportunities, which enhance education beyond the traditional textbook and classroom model. Fremont District 79 schools serve approximately 2,250 students from the unincorporated areas of the district and parts of the communities of Mundelein, Hawthorn Woods, Wauconda, Grayslake, Round Lake, Long Grove and Libertyville. Each year, FEF funds grants submitted by teacher and staff, funding innovative learning opportunities for students of all grade levels K-8. Funded grants include: Rockets and Robotics, Girls on the Run, CPR training, Author Nights, Character Counts support/training aids, assistive technology software for students with disabilities, archery bows, an iPad Pilot program, and a duckling hatching program to support the science curriculum.
