Garden State Horse Show

The Garden State Horse Show, presented by the Junior Essex Troop, is New Jersey's premier horse show held annually in May at the Sussex County Fairgrounds in Augusta.

Started in 1951 by the Junior Essex Troop, this AA-Rated five day horse show is home to the Ted Grant Welcome Stake Grand Prix, the John H. Fritz Challenge, and the Junior Essex Troop Garden State Grand Prix.

The show offers classes for all levels of Equitation, Hunters, and Jumpers, with Hunter Classics, Hunter Derbies, and Jumper Derbies, including the AA Garden State Jr/AO Hunter Classic and the USHJA National Garden State Hunter Derby.

In 2011, for its 60th Anniversary, the Garden State Horse Show expanded to include the Garden State Preview Show, a two-day C-Rated event held the weekend prior to the Garden State Horse Show. The Preview affords competitors an opportunity to show in the Grand Prix ring and main Hunter rings.

Along with a full compliment of divisions, the Preview also offers multiple Hunter Classics and Wildcard Classes for the John H. Fritz Challenge and the Junior Essex Troop Jumper Derby.
