The Healthy Communities Coalition of Lyon, Storey and Mineral is a nonprofit collaboration of over one-hundred diverse group partners and hundreds of community volunteers that agree to work together so that all members of our communities have opportunities to thrive. Who Can Join? Monthly meetings are open to all community members and groups interested in working together on common goals to increase wellness and access to good nutrition, education, and health care, and to prevent suicide, poverty, and tobacco, alcohol and other drug use in the Lyon, Storey and Mineral regions.

Technical Assistance: Healthy Communities is also the pass-through entity for a number of federal and state grant sub-recipients in the area, including University Cooperative Extension (Mineral and Lyon Counties), Central Lyon Youth Connections and Project Success, Boys and Girls Club of Mason Valley, Lyon County Rural Nevada Counseling, Lyon County Sheriff's Department, and Community Chest of Virginia City, among many others. Healthy Communities also provides technical assistance and/or manages grants for many groups in the region.

Volunteer Doing Something You Love: Healthy Communities helps promote and fund things that strengthen communities, including community task forces, community and school gardens, farmers markets, arts experiences for youth, workforce development, graduation coaching and tutoring, services outreach to rural military families and veterans, access to primary and mental health care, food, coat, shoe and toy drives, and prevention of violence, suicide, alcohol, tobacco, prescription and other drug use, etc. If you have time, skills, ideas or resources to share, please contact Healthy Communities at (775) 246-7550.
