Joyful Noise - a Music and Prairie Family Camp

Symphony in the Flint Hills and Camp Wood YMCA present the first-annual event: Joyful Noise - a Music and Prairie Family Camp. People of all ages and musical abilities are invited to play together on the prairie on October 1, 2011 at Camp Wood YMCA in Elmdale, Kansas.

Joyful Noise will consist of a variety of music workshops ranging from introductory to advance sessions in folk music, guitar, string, percussion, brass, woodwinds, voice and improvisation. Kindermusik® will be available for children under seven-years-old. Participants can also enjoy prairie activities such as nature walks led by Audubon of Kansas and horseback riding in the hills.

The finale of the daylong camp features a Twilight Prairie Concert performed by the Emporia Symphony Orchestra with Eugene Friesen and conducted by Jeremy Starr. This concert is open and free to the public from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m.
