Kennedy School is located on Pleasant Hill Road in Succasunna. The school is comprised of grades Kindergarten through four, with four classes on most grade levels and a total student population of 356. The educational focus is to provide students with a challenging and vigorous academic program. Our faculty is committed to providing our students with the ability to employ higher level thinking skills, to solve problems and to understand the cognitive processes by which they learn and achieve. These latter serve as the tools for developing true learning skills. The emphasis is not merely on what one learns, but how one learns. Further, art, music, physical education, media instruction and guidance services are provided for all students to increase their motivation and skills in all areas. Technology is incorporated throughout the curriculum and in an expanded computer lab program which includes instruction on the use of the Internet.

Kennedy School has elaborated its thematic and integrated approach to learning through the continued and expanded emphasis on alternative assessment. This provides another way of assessing our students' progress over the entire year. Student progress and growth is demonstrated in a variety of ways using an array of skills and multiple intelligences.

The size and design of the school fosters positive community, parent, teacher, administrator and student communication. the PTA, for example, continues to support the children in a variety of ways, from purchasing fans and computers for the classroom to supporting our highly successful cultural arts assembly program. Our Parent Advisory Committee also lends support to our efforts by assisting in the establishment and review of building objectives that impact on the learning of all students throughout their Kennedy experience.
