Magothy is one of 19 middle schools in Anne Arundel County, Maryland. The school is located in Arnold, which is part of what is known as the Broadneck peninsula.The school is situated off College Parkway, across the road from Anne Arundel Community College. Our students come from suburban residential neighborhoods and all students are bused to the school. Magothy students come from 2 elementary feeder schools, Cape St. Claire and Broadneck. Students leaving Magothy will enter Broadneck High School.

Magothy was built in 1974 as an open space school. Over the years the facility has been modified and renovated to enclose classrooms, where possible, and provide instructional space to accommodate special programs and 3 computer labs. The state rated capacity of the building is 1053 students.
