Mayfield Elementary School

302 Plum Creek Road
810-667-2442

Mayfield School serves a large geographical area. Students attend from mostly the west side of M-24, south to Davis Lake Road, and north to and including White Road. They also come to us from Sawdust Corners' neighborhoods, and west to Marathon Road.

We have approximately 530 students from Kindergarten through Sixth Grade constituting 385 families. Currently this requires nineteen (20) classroom teachers to accommodate them. We have two Learning Disabilities teachers to meet the needs of students requiring additional assistance.

We also qualify for Title I (special academic assistance) due to meeting federal government guidelines for support. Federal law regarding Title I assistance, is based on percentage of student population eligible for free and reduced lunches.

Students continue to perform very well at 4th grade on MEAP Reading, Writing, and Math where we consistently attain high standards of achievement. Our 5th graders do very well on Science assessment. We really improved in MEAP Social Studies achievement this past year! California Achievement Testing (CAT) given at 6th grades indicate above average achievement scores and are also among the highest in the district..

We have many Sixth Grade students earning "Presidential Academic Award" recognition yearly and a significant number of students earning Academic Honor Roll recognition quarterly for grades 4-6.

In addition to focus on academics, our students participate in community service activities. Mayfield students and families contribute generously to the Goodfellows Food Drive prior to Christmas, adopt families at Christmas time for assistance, and have participated in a math activity raising money for Cystic Fibrosis. We also have a Student Council, 3-6 grades, active in a variety of areas.

In sum, Mayfield School is an outstanding school! "Learning" is a premium conducted in an orderly and friendly atmosphere. Also, a desire for developing sensitivity for others is encouraged. Mayfield School truly is a great place to learn and grow!
