Mission:

The Naugatuck Arts Commission has been established to foster, promote, encourage and celebrate the excellence, enjoyment and vitality of the arts in the Town of Naugatuck, Connecticut. The Commission will sponsor and coordinate exciting, innovative, entertaining and educational programs representative of the fine, applied and performing arts. The Commission will promote a favorable climate to attract artists of all ages, cultures and areas of interest to the borough. Through its endeavors, the Naugatuck Arts Commission will help to broaden understanding of and the appreciation for artistic diversity, cultural awareness and community spirit.

About Us:

The Naugatuck Arts Commission is funded by taxpayer dollars. Each year the joint boards of Finance and Mayor and Burgesses set aside a fixed amount of funds to support the arts in Naugatuck. Here are some examples of how the commission uses these funds:

- Support new arts initiatives.
- Organize and sponsor summer concerts on the town green.
- Work to help secure rehearsal locations for established arts groups.
- Incorporate arts programs into local and state economic initiatives.
- Provide support for youth events involving the arts.
- Recruit arts organizations to come to Naugatuck.
- Support established local arts groups.
- Serve as conduit and portal of information for local, state and national arts groups.
- Provide a sounding board for future arts initiatives in the Borough of Naugatuck.
