History:
The City of Opp is located in Covington County in South Alabama. This once sleepy area of Alabama is finding new life with new economic development and growth.

One example is the announcement recently that MFG/Alabama, a division of Molded Fiber Glass Companies of Ohio will open a manufacturing facility in Opp. MFG will be manufacturing molded parts for Wind Generation for General Electric. MFG has a storied history, having produced the first molded fiberglass body for the Chevy Corvette in 1953. The company also produced the first fiberglass boat. A national hotel chain is also finalizing a deal to build a hotel in Opp. Another sign of progress is the revival of the Opp Rattlesnake Rodeo. The Opp Rattlesnake Rodeo had fallen on hard times, but with renewed focus on the event, an estimated 20,000 people attended.
