Plain City Elementary School

340 West Main Street
614-873-4608

Plain City Elementary, the largest building in the district with 500 students, is located in the heart of the village of Plain City. We serve preschool through fourth grade with special programs for the learning disabled, severe behavior, and gifted students.

At Plain City Elementary, we place a heavy emphasis on math, reading and writing. There are computers in every classroom as well as a 30 station lab. In addition, the students take classes in music, physical education and art/technology. Second and fourth graders participate in mini Dare lessons with Deputy Dill. Camp and Club Invention are offered for those students who enjoy hands-on science. Each grade takes 2 field trips per year and educational assemblies are provided on a monthly basis. All of the students take part in service projects to help our neighbors and friends in other parts of the world. We also strive to teach our young learners the value of money and how to manage it- a skill that will be used throughout life. We are in our third year of providing a theater program for our students. Check back for this year's theater production!

The Plain City Elementary faculty takes pride in the fact that 75% of our teachers hold Masters degrees and several of our colleagues will soon join the ranks. Many of our teachers have been with the district their entire career. As principal, I firmly believe that the Jonathan Alder School District is a great place to live and raise a family. We are situated in a rural setting just outside Columbus. We have a very active P.T.O. that supports the school by providing events such as C.O.S.I. On Wheels and annual visits from author/illustrators. Volunteers are always welcome in our school! Parents, grandparents, and community members make our school stronger through their dedicated support of our academic program and support of fund raising efforts.
