Plymouth Canton Citizens for Diversity and Inclusion

Plymouth Canton Citizens for Diversity and Inclusion group, known as PCCDI, is a diverse group of community members whose goals include furthering diversity and inclusion throughout Plymouth and Canton.  Our vision is to guide the Plymouth-Canton communities in recognizing the importance of building a culturally inclusive community and the spirit of inclusion that creates a region that is welcoming and beneficial to all.

Our current focus spans education, representation in public life, history, community life and law enforcement.  We practice furthering cultural competence and building diversity and inclusion through collaborations between community members, local governmental entities, school personnel, administrators and students.  Some of our goals include that the Plymouth-Canton community achieves diverse leadership by reflecting the demographics and wishes of all residents of the area, and ensures that current and future actions, practices, policies and procedures are inclusive in order to achieve cultural competence.  We challenge schools, local governments and community organizations to recruit a more diverse and inclusive membership base.  Active recruitment from community reflected ethnic populations and an examination of  employment and evaluation process must occur in every facet to reduce barriers to employment for all races, genders, sexual orientation, age and disabilities.

PCCDI is a community group that include actions such as forming omnsbudsman groups in order to further collaboration between community members, schools, teachers, students, local governments and their policies and procedures.  We are looking to form new partnerships that help in furthering diversity, inclusion and cultural competence, while nurturing collaborations we have already established.
