Stewart Middle School

1315 W. Marshall Street
610-275-6870

To educate all students fo a diverse community to become responsible, thinking, creative, literate citizens who strive for personal excellence, function successfully, and enrich society.

Located in the west end of the Borough of Norristown, Stewart Middle School celebrated its 75th year of service to the community during the 2000 - 2001 school year. Opened as a junior high school in 1925, Stewart was converted to a middle school in 1973. Because all Stewart’s 600+ students reside within a 1 ½ mile walking distance of the school, Stewart may be regarded as one of the few remaining neighborhood schools in the region.

In 1981, Stewart was selected as one of only two schools statewide to participate in the PA Department of Education’s (PDE) School Climate Improvement Project and has been recognized by PDE and the Senate of Pennsylvania for its efforts to improve mathematics and reading scores.

A wireless computer network is available to all students for research. In addition, a state-of-the-art sound system in the auditorium makes monthly student assemblies more valuable. Stewart is also known for its annual spring musical.

Students at Stewart have many opportunities to extend their involvement at school to after-school activities. Seventh and eighth grade students may participate on a variety of athletic teams. Stewart’s active student council program also does many service activities throughout the school year.
