THE CORPORATE MISSION OF SCC

Our mission is to equip and mature believers in the Word of God, thereby enabling them to faithfully complete their destiny and influence the world with the life-changing message of the Kingdom of God. Our mission is to advance the Kingdom of God in the ministry and the marketplace through active evangelism.

HISTORY IN THE MAKING AT SCC

In 1987, God began to plant a vision in Pastor Ben that would impact our lost and dying generation with a holistic message of salvation in Jesus Christ. Over the next five years, Pastors Ben and Sherry worked faithfully in the ministry of New Birth Baptist Church under the leadership of Bishop Eddie Long.

Habakkuk 2:3 states, “For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak and not lie, though it tarry, wait on it because it will surely come, it will not tarry.”

In May 1993, the pastors and four committed servants of God met to discuss the birthing of Stronghold Christian Church (SCC). Nahum 1:7, “The Lord is good, a Stronghold in the day of trouble and He knows them that trust in Him,” became the Scripture on which the ministry was founded.

In the months that followed, the members worked diligently to plan and organize the ministry according to the vision that the Lord had given to Pastor Ben. By the fall of 1993, the charter members began holding Bible study in the home of Pastors Ben and Sherry. God continued to faithfully add to the body, and on November 1, 1993, the members and friends of Stronghold held their first Sunday evening service.

God continued to give SCC favor and on January 16, 1994, the members of Lithonia Presbyterian Church opened their doors and invited SCC to utilize their facility on Sunday evenings.

On December 25, 1994, Stronghold Christian Church crossed the Jordan River and entered into their first promise land, 4925 Browns Mill Road in Lithonia. In October 1997, SCC purchased 78 acres of land on Turner Hill Road in Lithonia. In March of 2001, SCC sold the Browns Mill location and agreed to co-exist with the new owners. In the summer, of 2001 construction began on the $4.2 million first phase.

In record time, the first phase was completed and the members and friends of SCC celebrated the completion of the first phase on Easter Sunday, 2002.

Under the apostolic covering of Apostle LaFayette Scales, senior pastor of Rhema Christian Center, Columbus, Ohio and the leadership of Pastor Ben and Dr. Sherry Gaither, Stronghold Christian Church has grown spiritually as well as numerically.

Through the ministry of SCC you will experience powerful praise and worship, biblical teaching, and prophetic instruction.
