The Story of Sunrise Christian Church:

With the help of the Intermountain Church Planters Association, Sunrise Christian Church began on February 6, 1983 as the direct result of the dreams, prayers and vision of Bill Putman. So with the help of many individuals working together, Sunrise Christian Church began by meeting together at Treasure Valley Community College. Later the church would move to a rented facility in Canyon Village until they purchased property along highway 201 where they are currently located. Bill Putman’s vision was not just to start a church, but to build a body of believers who would be in a growing relationship with Jesus Christ. Bill’s vision can be seen in the brochure used to announce the “birth” of Sunrise Christian to the community, “This nondenominational church will be a Bible-believing, Christ-honoring, soul-winning church dedicated to being like the church Jesus established in the first century. We are a group of people dedicated to a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. We are related to each other, not because we have “joined a church” but because we have been born into the same spiritual family. We seek the unity of all believers on the basis of a deeper commitment to Jesus Christ our Lord.” Bill then closes out that particular page of the brochure with these timeless words, “We want to be your spiritual family and share with you a vital fellowship within the life of the church.” These words are just as true today as they were then, so if you are looking for a new and deeper relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ and want to be in fellowship with a group of believers who seek a growing relationship with each other and with God, then Sunrise Christian Church may be just the place you are looking for.
