Town of Indian Head Parks & Recreation

4195 Indian Head Highway
301-743-5511

Recreational opportunities abound within the Town of Indian Head and it's surrounding landscape. Miles of waterfront await the boater and fisherman. Acres of parkland and hiking trails beckon to those with outdoor interests. Within the Town itself, special plots of open space have been designated not only for recreational use, but also as protection of the environment. Newly expanded Mattingly Park on Mattingly Avenue buffers the Mattawoman Creek from adjacent residential development and provides an area for picnicking, boating and fishing.

The Village Green and Pavilion, the hub of many community activities, is adjacent to the Senior/Community Center. It provides a beautiful covered pavilion amidst its 9.5 acres of open space. This year-round facility includes an indoor-outdoor stage, a large multi-purpose room for community activities and private gatherings, and a kitchen for providing sit down dinners as well as a host of other amenities.

Meekins Park and Woodland Village Park are also small neighborhood recreation areas. Future developmental plans call for additional public shoreline access, recreational walkway and waterway trail systems, and preservation of vacant land for open space and growing recreational needs.
