Zeeland Township is a beautiful Township which shows pride in its historic background and its strong religious heritage. The Township, named after the Province of Zeeland in the Netherlands, was settled in 1847 by a group of 457 courageous settlers who were seeking religious and political freedom. Despite many hardships, the colony survived due to the strong faith and dedicated efforts of those who settled in this wilderness.

Today the population of Zeeland Township is approximately 8000. The strong work ethic is still evident in the quality work force in the area, and pride is apparent in the upkeep of homes and businesses. Zeeland Township's location provides wide recreational opportunities with easy access to nearby lakes, streams, cross country skiing, biking and hiking. In addition to local cultural events, Zeeland Township is close to larger cities which provide excellent sports, intellectual and arts opportunities. Activities, parades and promotions of all sorts take place here. Zeeland Public Schools offer pre-school through twelfth grade programs to over 4938 students. Zeeland Christian School, Beaverdam Christian School and Borculo Christian School are parent owned parochial schools within the Zeeland area. Zeeland Community Education and Recreation programs offer enrichment courses, high school completion classes and recreational activities to over 17,000 adults each year. Over twenty colleges and universities are located within a two and a half hour drive from Zeeland Township, with some courses available here. Zeeland Township has a tradition of productivity, with corresponding economic stability in the community. Industry is widely diversified and consists of major primary manufacturers and key suppliers. Goods produced include Agricultural, office furniture, perennial plants, clocks, pharmaceuticals, processed foods, and drawn metal stamping. Total employment in the Zeeland area is over 15,000.
